More than thirty years on, Sands continues to provide support to all bereaved parents and families who have suffered the death of a baby anytime from conception through to 28 days after birth - this includes miscarriage, neonatal death, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy and genetic/medically advised termination.
Sands are a self-help support group comprised of parents who have experienced the death of a baby. Sharing with others who have had similar experiences can assist parents to work through the often intense grief which follows the death of a baby.
There are active Sands groups in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania other states are serviced through our phone support line and online through social media.

- Parents receive adequate, sensitive support from their family and friends.

- Medical professionals adequately communicate the risks and realities of pregnancy loss to parents before and during pregnancy.
- Medical professionals, including radiographers, GPs, midwives and obstetricians, are able to communicate sensitively and adequately with parents following pregnancy loss.
